Having written for Virginia Right for the last two years and having moved from King George to Caroline County, I am eager to embrace a new challenge. Pendleton Penn’s primary purpose will be to cover Caroline County politics, to serve as a catalyst for resurrecting and reinvigorating the Republican Party in Caroline County, to draw Caroline County closer to her sister counties, and to serve as a hub for information gathering for Virginia’s 1st District.
The name Pendleton Penn comes from two of Caroline County’s most prominent ancestors: Edmund Pendleton and his nephew John Penn. Patriots both, I believe that their contributions and leadership during the founding of our nation beautifully captures the spirit of liberty and renewal I seek to encourage in Caroline County and in Virginia at large.
While I intend to officially launch this platform January 1st, 2016, I will be writing articles here sporadically throughout December, working out the kinks, testing my hosting company’s capabilities and efficiency, and developing the site’s social media presence. I will also be ensuring my ability to attend all local Board of Supervisor’s Meetings and cover any and all local political events of note.
Special thanks to Zachary Werrell who designed the Pendleton Penn Logo.
For those unfamiliar with my work at Virginia Right, I am a constitutional originalist and classical liberal (read Constitutional Libertarian), I volunteer for the Ted Cruz Presidential Campaign here in Caroline County, and I firmly believe in keeping up a dialogue between all factions of the Republican Party. While the latter will always be difficult due to the Republican Party’s ideological diversity, I believe that separatist and isolationist attitudes do little to promote our conservative, limited-government principles within the Republican Party as a whole.
I intend to cover all of our local Representatives in and around Caroline County. Subjects of our focus here will be Senators Mark Warner and Tim Kaine, Congressman Rob Wittman and Congressman Dave Brat, State Senator Ryan McDougle and, Delegates Orrock, Fowler, and Ransone, and of course our Governor Terry McAuliffe.
Please feel free to contact me with any concerns regarding the functionality of Pendleton Penn, I expect to discover various issues throughout December and intend to them fixed by our official launching on January 1st.
